Dec 9th, 4 days, from 435 €/person + taxes.
Schedule:
Day 1: Flight to Amsterdam – City tour – Check-in at the hotel.
Meeting at the airport and flight to Amsterdam, the beautiful capital of the Netherlands. Arrival in the city, transfer to the hotel and settling at the rooms. On the way, we will receive the first necessary information to get to know the city. Then, our guide will be available to accompany you to the historic centre and the central Dam Square, walking through a city where its majestic canals and iconic narrow mansions make up the image of a huge open-air museum. The scattered international restaurants and shops all around will fill us with ideas, while the distinctive houses within the canals and the illuminated bridges will be the occasion for beautiful photos! Afterwards, you can continue your fun in the typical Dutch pubs or restaurants in the area. (Go by tram or metro, costs are individual, and a hint on how to use it). Overnight stay.
Day 2: Amsterdam – City tour – Coster Diamonds.
After enjoying breakfast at our hotel, we will depart for our introduction to the city of Amsterdam. Our panoramic tour of the capital of the Netherlands will reveal a unique capital, both timelessly romantic and modern, so much so that the abundance of canals with the multiculturalism of its inhabitants make it one of Europe’s best-known metropolises. Walking through Amsterdam’s beautiful and green zone, we will enjoy the perfect harmony of the environment along the famous Amstel River. Next to the serene banks we find beautiful coastal houses, typical boats and one of the most beautiful windmills in the region. Crossing the river we see the impressive Stadium Arena, home of the local Ajax team. Finally, we tour the city centre, the Museum Square and one of the city’s oldest diamond factories, the renowned Coster Diamonds. Amsterdam, in addition to the tulips, cheese and other products for which it is known, is equally famous for diamond cutting, being one of the “world capitals” of diamond manufacturing, hosting the world’s largest diamond houses. We will learn about the entire production process from the initial to the final stage, followed by a look at historical jewellery as well as a plethora of diamonds from the house’s vast collection. Free time to enjoy the beautiful city.
Day 3: Amsterdam – Optional excursion to the Dutch countryside – Volendam – Cheese Farm – Museum Square.
Breakfast at our hotel. For today we suggest a wonderful excursion. We set off for the famous fishing village of Volendam. On our way, we cross the classic landscape of the Dutch countryside through vast meadows and dried polder (reclaimed land from the sea). We’ll enjoy strolling through the narrow streets and its picturesque harbour, walking past colourful folk art shops and traditional bistros/cafes, serving local delicacies. Our walk along the waterfront will reveal all those places, where in the old days local products such as fish, milk and cheese were transhipped, thus starting their journey to Amsterdam’s markets. We conclude our experience about life in the Dutch countryside by visiting a local cheese farm, where the little Dutch girl, dressed in traditional costume, will show us how the famous cheeses are made. Then, it’s time for the exquisite yet “tasty” part of our visit, as we will have the opportunity to taste the countless combinations of their flavours. Immediately afterwards, anyone who wishes can also visit one of the famous Van Gogh museums, the Rijksmuseum (National Gallery) or the Stedelijk Museum (Contemporary Art). Free afternoon. (Optional tour cost: 70€ for adults, 60€ for children up to 12 years old).
Day 4: Amsterdam Shopping Experience (Free day) – Return flight.
Breakfast at our hotel. Free time at your disposal to enjoy shopping and the “Amsterdam Shopping Experience” in the city’s famous markets. We begin from Kalverstraat (Europe’s first shopping pedestrian street after World War II) or P.C Hooftstraat, home to the world’s fashion houses. A stroll through the Jordaan region and the famous nine streets (9 Straatjes) of small shops, will reveal the beauty of the canals in one of the most picturesque parts of the city. Also, in the large department stores in Dam Square, such as Bijenkorf and Magna Plaza (located in the former central post office building, built in 1895) you can admire their architecture and find a plethora of products while enjoying a coffee or a meal. Alternatives include a visit to the Zoological or Botanical Gardens in the Metropolitan Park, the colourful shops, the flower bazaar and the flea markets. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport to take the flight back home. Arrival in our city with the best impressions.
