Programme:

Day 1: Departure for Belgrade (625 km)

Early morning gathering in Thessaloniki, meeting with our escort and departure for the border of Evzona. Free time for shopping at the duty free shop. Then and passing peripherally through Skopje, we arrive at the border of Serbia. Crossing the border and entering Old Serbia. Arrival in the capital, Belgrade. Check-in at the hotel. In the evening free time for first acquaintance with the city.

Day 2: Belgrade – city tour – Monumental Centre – Evening walk in Skadarlija.

Breakfast and start the tour of the beautiful capital of Serbia. We will start from the symbol of the old town, the fortress Kalemegdan, built at the confluence of the rivers Danube and Sava and built in the years of the Ottoman Empire as a fortification for protection from enemies, the Nebos ja Tower, which was the prison and the place of death of King Ferraios and we will continue with the churches Ruzica and St. Paraskevi. We will see the Republic Square, the National Theatre, the famous mansion of Princess Ljubica, the hotel , a trademark of the city and of course St. Sava, the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans. The interior of the church is a bit “cold”, but you will discover in its corners, the old wooden carved iconostasis of St. Sava’s sanctuary and amazing mosaics of Serbian iconography. You will also see the Tito Memorial Centre dedicated to the great leader, the Town Hall and the Parliament. In the afternoon free time in the city. Don’t miss the large pedestrian street of Knez Mihailova Street, with shops for cheap but quality shopping. Alternatively, you can visit in New Belgrade the large Usche shopping centre, where you will find all the well-known European brands. In the evening we will take a nice walk in the bohemian area of the city, the famous Skadarljia, one of the most beautiful areas, where the nightlife lasts until the early morning hours and you will find restaurants, bars, clubs. The area will remind you of the old Ladadika of Thessaloniki. A special note in the paved area is given by the street musicians, who sing traditional Serbian songs.

Day 3: Novi Sad tour (80+80 km) – Sremsi Karlovci – By night Zemun.

Breakfast and optional departure for the city of Novi Sad, the capital of Vojvodina and the second largest city in Serbia. It is an economic centre and is particularly known for its university. It is built on the banks of the Danube and was founded to serve as a stopover for trade. On our tour we will see the Petrovaradin Castle, with a nice view of the Danube River, Slobodan Square, the Cathedral, the City Hall and have free time on the main pedestrian street. Then we will visit the provincial town of Sremsi karlovci, which is located just 5 km from the city and we will have the opportunity to see the historical seat of the Patriarchate and the Cathedral of St. Nicholas. It is a place of great spiritual and cultural value since it was there that the world’s first literary magazine was published. During our return to Belgrade we will enjoy a route of outstanding natural beauty. For the evening and by bus we will take a panoramic Danube panoramic walk in the Zemun district, one of the most picturesque areas of the city.

Day 4: Topola – Openlak – Avala Observatory.

Breakfast and a free day to wander around the city on your own. Those who wish can join the optional excursion to Topola and Oppenlak Hill. For those participating in the excursion, we will depart after breakfast for the town of Topola, which is located in the heart of the vineyards and is famous for its wine production and for the important historical events that took place here during the 18th – 19th and 20th centuries. Our next stop is the hill of Openlak, where we will see the church of St. George with its famous mosaics and frescoes, the house of the royal family, and the mausoleum of the Karadzorcevic dynasty, which was built by King Peter. Finally, on the way back we will also stop at the Avala Observatory, where the monument to the Unknown Hero is located and from there we will enjoy an excellent panoramic view. Return to Belgrade. Belgrade is well known among other things for the nightlife which it offers. We therefore recommend you to discover this side of the city by visiting some of the countless clubs, bars, cafes and restaurants, which keep the city alive at all hours of the day.

Day 5: Belgrade – Nis – Return (625 km)

Breakfast, free time and departure for the historic city of Nis, located on the banks of the Nisawa River. It is the third largest city in the country and is famous, as Constantine the Great was born here. A short tour of the city and transfer to the Serbian-Skopje border. With the necessary stops en route for coffee and rest we arrive in our city in the evening with the best impressions.

Note: The 4-day tour does not include the 4th day of the program.
