Programme:

Day 1: Thessaloniki – Piraeus – Patmos

Departure at 05.30 from Thessaloniki. With stops en route for coffee and rest, arrival at the port of Piraeus. Boarding the ship and sailing at 14.00 for the island of Apocalypse, Patmos. Arrival at the island at 22.20. Transfer and check-in at the hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 2: Patmos

Breakfast. Departure for the cave of the Apocalypse where the Evangelist John retired to write his prophetic work, the Apocalypse, which is said to have been written by his disciple Prochorus at his dictation. We continue on to the famous Monastery of St. John the Theologian (1088 AD) which dominates over Chora. Visit and pilgrimage to the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi and Panagia Diasozousa. Free time. Departure to visit the seat of St. Nektarios in Loukakia. Overnight stay.

Day 3: Patmos – Leipsoi – Patmos

Breakfast. Departure for an optional daily excursion to Leipsoi, which according to tradition is the mythical Ogygia, the island of the nymph Calypso. In Leipsoi we will visit the Virgin Mary of Charou, in an idyllic location, built by monks of Patmos in Byzantine style, in the late 16th century AD. A sacred relic of the church is the icon of the Virgin Mary, which is said to hold Christ not as an infant but hanging dead on the cross of martyrdom. This is why she was called “The Virgin of Death”. Back to Patmos. Free time. Overnight stay.

Day 4: Patmos (At sea)

Departure for the cave of the Apocalypse to attend the Divine Liturgy. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Departure for visit and pilgrimage to the Holy Monastery of the Annunciation of Theotokos. Then visit and pilgrimage to the Seat of All Saints, on the north side of the port of Skala. However, the presence of the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, “the joy of all”, has enhanced the honour of the Saints and established the place in the popular consciousness as the “Seat of Panagia Koumana”. We continue to get to know the coastal areas of Kampos and Meloi. Lunch in private. Return to Chora. Free time. Those who wish can rest in the hotel rooms at a charge of 15 € per person (subject to availability).

Day 5: Piraeus – Athens – Thessaloniki

Boarding the ship and sailing at 00.15 for Piraeus. Overnight stay on board. Arrival at Piraeus at 08:25. Visit and pilgrimage to the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, in Milesi, which was founded by Saint Porphyrios the Kausokalyvitis. With intermediate stops for coffee and rest, arrival at Thessaloniki, full of beautiful memories of our trip.
