Day 1: Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy – Discover the culture and colour of Civitavecchia. This Italian gem is known for its 16th-century Michelangelo’s fortress, the ancient Taurine Baths and the Vanvitelli marble fountain, the port is a convenient starting point for visiting Rome, Italy’s royal and romantic capital. Not far from Civitavecchia is Rome, one of the most distinguished cities in the world. Be impressed by its many architectural wonders, such as the famous Colosseum. The Trevi Fountain is a symbol of Rome, a baroque beauty that combines architecture, sculpture, rocks and water. Admire the spectacle on an MSC Cruises excursion and see this 18th century landmark up close. Showcasing mythological figures, including Triton on a shell-shaped chariot, the Fontana di Trevi is an Italian masterpiece. This landmark structure has appeared in films such as La Dolce Vita and Roman Holiday. A trip to Rome is not complete without a visit to the Vatican, located in the heart of the Italian capital. Day 3: Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Islands), Spain – The port city of Palma, is located on the south coast of Mallorca. Founded in 124 BC, Palma is famous for its medieval streets, stunning architecture and ancient fortified walls. Visit the magnificent Soller on an excursion, a seaside town with a backdrop of mountains. See buildings such as Santa Maria Cathedral, which features Gaudí’s designs and one of the largest stained-glass windows in the world, or the Gothic Bellver Castle with its circular centre and impressive towers. See Palma’s most notable building: the 14th-century La Seu. Set at the top of the former citadel, this Gothic cathedral was built almost 400 years ago. Spanish traditions are kept alive at the Coliseum of the Balearics in the Plaza de Toros, a historic arena that still hosts bullfights or take a trip to La Almudaina, the glorious summer residence of the Spanish royal family. Explore Antonio Gaudí’s surreal Sagrada Família, the famous Ramblas, the medieval Barri Gótic and the Picasso Museum. But there’s even more to discover in this sprawling Spanish city: from hidden tapas bars and fabulous food markets to Europe’s largest football stadium. On your travels, discover the nearby town of Santa Coloma de Cervelló and marvel at Gaudí’s incredible Colonia Güell church. Or visit its other architectural masterpieces – Casa Batlló and Casa Milà. Choose an adventurous MSC Cruises excursion to the majestic Montserrat Mountains. See Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona’s bustling boulevard, and stop to admire Gaudí’s Sagrada Família. Day 5: Cannes (Côte d’Azur), France – Cannes, a jewel on the coast of France, will introduce you to the famous Film Festival. Away from the iconic seafront promenade of La Croisette, lined with chic boutiques and hotels, this destination of MSC Mediterranean Cruises offers remarkable heritage sites and the chance to visit exciting towns such as Monaco and the medieval village of Eze. Head out in comfort on an excursion to Monaco and Monte Carlo. You’ll encounter unforgettable architecture, magical marinas, and an abundance of historical landmarks. Day 6: Genoa (Portofino), Italy – The port city of Genoa, is the gateway to Italy’s charming Riviera. Wander its winding medieval streets, see the historic, Piazza Matteotti and admire a magnificent cluster of 16th and 17th century buildings. Enjoy an excursion to picturesque Portfino, a famous fishing village on the Italian Riviera. Starting from Santa Margherita Ligure, you’ll take a short and leisurely boat cruise to Portfino’s coastline, where you’ll admire spectacular sea views and a glittering harbour full of yachts. Genoa is an unforgettable experience and there’s no better way to explore it than on an excursion. Wander the charming narrow streets of the old town, known as ‘carruggi’, to reach the imposing Piazza de Ferrari with its Palazzo Ducale. This pleasant walk through the historic centre of Genoa will take you through the city that was once an important commercial hub for all overseas traders. Day 7: La Spezia, Italy – Overlooking the ‘Gulf of the Poets’, lies the Italian naval city of La Spezia. Here, a maze of atmospheric streets lead to an impressive commercial harbour with glamorous yachts and pretty palm trees. This bustling Liguria port boasts historical churches, museums, and gardens. Nearby, Cinque Terre, Pisa, and Florence are just waiting to be discovered. Take the trip of a lifetime to Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Park. This lively area comprises of five coastal villages: Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore, Monterosso al Mare, and Vernazza. View these multi-coloured towns from the sea, on a boat ride along the rocky coast. Then, dock in Monterosso al Mare for a leisurely walk through the old town centre before visiting San Giovanni Battista, a 14th-century church. See the remarkable Leaning Tower of Pisa on an excursion where you’ll visit the architectural complex Piazza dei Miracoli. Florence, capital city of the Tuscany region, is a star of the Italian Renaissance. There’s plenty to discover on this fabulous excursion including fine food, masterpiece artworks, and ancient architecture.
